How do I .... ?

Questions about how to carry DAW-related tasks with Ardour

Query about clipping

Hello,
I've scoured the forums a bit but couldn't really find any info directly related to an issue like this. There's a ton of info about clipping right in ardour but it appears that my signal is somehow entering into the pc already clipped. It's been a while since I had fired up all of my equipment so perhaps I need to play with it a bit more but here is my issue...

Export problem

Hi,

I am trying to export a mix and Mixbus won't let me choose the Hard Disk were I want to save.
The only optionI have is at the root of my system disk.
I have four Hard Disk hooked to my computer and none of them appears as a choice to save any file on it when trying to export.
Is this a known problem with MixBus?

Help please.

Mute does not mute!

Why am I still hearing muted tracks? I hit the yellow button with the M on it for a track, and... I'm still hearing it.

K-14 meter

Hi,
I just bought MixBus and also the Video by AdanAdam.

I have one question about the K-14 meter.
What is the relation between the K-14 meter and the Master Out fader?
I have noticed that when I mix at 0db on the Master fader, the K-14 reading goes well over 4 in the pink zone.
In order to stay at 0db on the K-14, I have to bring down the master fader around -12db. Consequently my mix level when I bounce is quite low.
Something I missed?
Thanks for your help

End Marker problems

Hi,

I have imported a cassette tape recording by adding a new stereo channel, and it does record properly. However, I've run into an interesting problem. The End marker is set to a little over 5 minutes.
Recording simply stops there even though there is much more to record.

I've tried to adjust the End marker beyond the five minute mark, but have been unable to do so.

Is there any way of having the End marker float until the recording is finished or disable the End marker?

Varying effects over a region over time

Maybe this is incredibly simple and I've somehow missed documentation on this capability, but I can't for the life of me find out how to change various parts/extents of effects I'm using over time. One of the simplest examples of this would be something like applying a Low Pass Filter and slowly bringing the cut off frequency up over time to finally reach the highest frequency (where you don't hear a filter even being applied), used in many pop songs, etc. Sorry for such a simple question, thanks for your time!

fasttrack pro and ardour

i cant get it to connect somebody help!

... set the meter to zero at a certain point

Hi ...

I am recording music with ardour (and hydrogen) and I always have a few measurs silence in ardour before the piece starts. I need that to have time to get from the mouse click into the position of recording.

Now the piece starts at measure 5 after 10 seconds. How do I tell ardour "Here is to be measure 0, time 0" ?

Thank you.

Johannes

A couple of quick questions

Hi Guys,

I have a couple of quick questions. I come from an Adobe Audition background, so my questions are going to be 'I know how to do it in AA, how do I do it in Ardour?'. Yes, I signed up many years ago, but that was when I was just playing around with Linux and not actually using the program for any serious nature, or more than a quick "Let's see if it runs" type senario. I've just bought a 13" Macbook Pro and it only has a single 3.5mm in/out plug, :( so I've gone with a little USB audio device (Behringer UFO202) which works ok. So, now that you know my quick history; on to the quick questions.

Import old Cubase projects

I have been using Ardour for Linux for about 2 years now with great success. I have a Presonus Firepod (pre FP10) that works well. The band I was with when I purchased the unit broke up, and at that time we were using Cubase LE that came with the unit to record. I recently got back together with the band, and I still have a bunch of recordings on an external hard drive that were recorded with Cubase. I would now rather use Ardour.
