How do I .... ?

Questions about how to carry DAW-related tasks with Ardour

Midi

Hi, wow I`m actually really impressed by this daw, although it is somewhat troublesome without a fancy mouse?(only have a classic one-button mac mouse). Having some problems using midi, first I can not get a midi signal either in or out of Mixbus. I`m using a Command 8 and a digi002 audio interface. What would be great is to be able to use my command 8 with mixbus.

Installing Linux & Ardour/using midi controllers?

Yes, I am a complete newb! To Linux and Ardour that is. I've been using Sonar on PC and Reason on Mac for many years.

I am hoping someone can explain the steps to do the following>

Install Linux on a PC that has XP installed. I'd like to Reformat and have a clean install.

Install Ardour

Install my DA interface (M-audio)

Configure it so I can use midi controllers (Keyboards, Akai Wind EWI USB, etc)

Also, could I install my VSTs? they are PC only.

Does Ardour have a Softsynth (like the TTS-1 for Cakewalk, etc?)

Zoom H4, Ardour, Jack, Aggregate Device?

Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to use a Zoom H4 as a mic for the time being rather than the built-in on a MacBook (not the Pro).

crazy distortion issue

Hello,

Controlling Mixbus Pan by Logic

Does anyone use Mixbus together with Logic and already has created an Environment to Control the Faders and Pan in Mixbus from Logic? I would really appreciate if someone could provide with me information of what's the best way to do this or an already configured .lso.
Thank you

How to configure BCF-2000 with recent Ardour ?

Greetings,

Most of the information I can find on the topic is old. If anyone's using a Behringer BCF-2000 with recent releases of Ardour2 I'd like to know how best to configure the device. I'd also like to test it with Ardour3, so any advice on that arrangement would be welcome too. :)

TIA,

dp

How do I copy a range from one track to another?

When I cut samples from various sources recorded into Ardour, what I need is to select part of a sound and then copy it into another track and later export to a wave file. I can select it with a range selection tool, but don't know how to copy it or whether it is possible at all. My workaround is to crop region to range - but this is not a very good solution, as I then have to reopen the project to continue my work.

subscription failed?

Hi, I see Ardour didn't make the goal in Feb. I've quickly checked my e-banking and found last transfer in January. Is it possible, that my subscription failed somehow? (or ended? I still see "thanks for your financial support") Couldn't this happen to more ppl? I cannot login to PayPal to verify it right now, I'll check again tonight.

how to pan more than 2 channels in a bus ?

Hi all,

I'm new in Ardour on Ubuntu distribution.
I'm trying to pass from a copy of cubase in Windows XP to MAO in Linux.
I have an EMU ESP1010 card (8 audio inputs, 8 outputs and some other input like MIDI, SPDIF)
I read that a common practice is to create a bus to manage instruments.
So I'm testing a bus with 3 entries (system:3 to system:5) that I called drum.
I'd like to have entry 3 on both outputs, entry 4 pan at the right and entry 5 pan on the left output.
Curiously, the mixer shows me only the 2 first inputs to pan (it works well on these 2 entries).

import multiple files to one track

the title says it almost all...

is there a way to import multiple wavs to one track, one after the other? i can only find:
import each file to new track, or import to regions list.
but from the regions list i also can't select multiple files and move them to one track.

thanks for help
