Track Meters

in

The individual tracks used to have little meters on the right on each track I guess I turned them off by mistake. where can I enable those meters? It is not the one on the left. Each track had its own meters (small) please help. Thanks

No plugins available in Ardour

in

Hi

I am using Debian Lenny and as you might know, there is no Ardour for that distro. So I installed it via the 64studio repositories. It works great, but there are no plugins whatsoever. When I try to add them, there are just no entries.
The Ardour version is: 2.8, the build 4918

I have all the Ladspa and DSSI plugins installed on my distro.

when starting up Ardour in CLI, I see this:

no more csLADSPA plugins

that is the only error message that I can see that pertains to plugins.

How can I get the plugins?

thanks

Markus

Deafening Playback Error & version upgrade query

in

I have an annoying problem, which crops up occasionally during playback. When the marker reaches certain edit points, the playback of whatever I am working on is replaced by a hideous deafening load of noise. It has nearly given me a heart attack on several occasions. Also, I am having problems updating to the latest version. I have downloaded the source code archive, but I don't know how to install it once I have it on the computer.

Ardour randomly looses connection to JACK in the middle of the recording

in

I'm using Ardour 2.8.9 (build 7212) in Debian Squeeze 32 bit. Audio interface - PreSonus AudioBox USB. During recording from AudioBox Ardour randomly looses connection to JACK and stops recording. When I try to reconnect it fails, even though JACK server still runs. After I restart JACK Ardour still fails to connect. When I open mixer I can see that there no connections defined whatsoever. After I define connection between mic inputs, two audio tracks, master track and master output Ardour can finally successfully connect to JACK and continue recording.

Monitoring Playback in One Channel Only

Hi,

Satisfactory Audio I/O Devices

in

Hello from Washington DC and a new user/member of the Ardour forum.

One thing I've been unable to find is a table or chart of preferred - or at least functional - audio interfaces for Ardour under Linux. I don't need a simultaneous 32-channel screamer, but at the same time I'd like something better than a $9 computer show soundcard.

What's a good 4-to-8 channel interface - USB, FW or otherwise - that you as a user can suggest or recommend? Or at least please point me in the direction of "Requirements>Recommended Hardware".

Thanks very much.

Unexpected quit when altering zoom

in

Hi there. I am running Ardour on Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx studio, 64 bit version. It's fine except for a small issue which keeps cropping up, which is when I attempt to change the zoom on the audio tracks by using the mouse and control key, it sometimes quits with absolutely no explanation whatsoever. Is there an explanation or fix for this?

Ardour suddently stopped working

in

Hi

Ardour looked like to work one month ago. SInce I had some other problems with the jack's driver for the firewire boxes, I didn't use it for a month.

But now it does not work anymore.

Initially it was an old 2.7.x version, the crashes made a good opportunity to upgrade. But also the 2.8.11 does not work.

I can give a lot of information as it crashes by a segfault on opening after the "load default ui configuration file ...ardour2_ui_default.conf". By passing a -N option I can see quickly the logo.

Best Linux Filesystem for Ardour in terms of Performance

in

Hi,

I'm just about to add a new (and huge) disk to my studio PC and wanted to canvass for some opinions on the best filesystem to use to maximise Ardour performance. There doesn't seem to be much info out there on which would be best and different filesystems are slightly better/worse at different things. Some of the reading I've done has indicated that XFS would be the best choice but there seems to be nothing definitive.

Anyone got any insights?

Thanks

Steven
