Hi,
is it possible to restore a region from the region list in the position it was originally recorded? It would save me hours and hours of headaches for just deleting a region by mistake and then saving the project…

#vervelover: if you use BWF as the native format, then “Move to natural position” in the region context menu will do just what you want. If you don’t use BWF, there is nowhere for the time to be recorded.
do you mean with respect to the “start” marker ? what if you changed the location of the start marker in the mean time ?

I see you got yourself an RME octamic. I have a quadmic but I will soon have to expand. The price difference is quite outstanding but it seems like the octamic offers much more than just a doubled version of the quadmic, is this true ?
If you’ve only saved the session once after deleting the region you can use the .ardour.bak to see where it was :
Rename the original .ardour to .ardour.new, rename .ardour.bak to .ardour, load the session and take note of where the region is, close Ardour and rename things back.

I decided to go for an octamic because it’s got a built in AD/DA converter, so I could use 8 channel and connect them to my Multiface II ADAT in, thus saving all the analog inputs of the card for other preamps and fx inserts. I never tried the Quadmic but I have to say the Octamic preamps are really good and comparable to the ones found in my FMR RNP, thought the latter sounds slightly better IMO. You can hear it on almost everything (except kick and snare drum) in the record I posted on my studio’s website homepage. Also, glad you liked my studio
