cannot connect to sound card

How do I make Jack Pilot connect to my sound card? When I go to the preferences menu, the interface menu is grey and cannot be altered. Why is this? I have made the proper adjustments in my general sound preferences and I have other programs like Sound Studio who connects to the sound cards without any further ado.

I don’t know a lot about jackpilot, but in my mac when you start jackpilot you can choose the sound card for output, and it should basically work…
