6 Mixer Window

Ardour provides two ways of viewing a session: the Editor Window and the Mixer Window. The Mixer Window provides a view of the session that mimics a traditional hardware mixing console. Rather than focusing on the time based aspects of a session, the Mixer Window is designed to allow you to manipulate the signal flow elements of a session. Such as gain control, plugins, bussing and so forth.

6.1 Mixer Window Layout

The left most area of the window is composed of the Strip List and Group List panes which allow various operations to be made on the larger area called the Mixer, which of course represents a mixing console. The lines that outline the Strip List and Group list panes all have a small square near their vertices. This square can be used to resize the three panes that form the mixer window. Dragging each of these squares with the left mouse button will move the border. The last pane is the Master Bus which is where all audio is fed into and is sent to the sound card
